Besides being a country with an abundance of oil deposits, Nigeria is also a land flowing with milk and honey. The country has a superb climate, fascinating cultures and filled with wonderful people’
The country has always been a destination for visitors and tourists.
In this piece, we will be concentrating on some of the most beautiful places in Nigeria:
1. Nike Art Gallery: The most desirable place for lovers of art and sculpture is Nike Art Gallery. The art gallery is situated in Lagos State and the largest of its kind in West Africa. With a collection of about 8000 different works of art housed in a five-storey building, a visit to Nike Art Gallery would never disappoint. Nike Art Gallery is not a suspended lake or a sunny beach. It is neither a mediaeval castle nor is it the 8th wonder of the world but it always captivates viewers because of its dazzling beauty and interpretation of many cultures artistically.
2. Mambilla Plateau: Located in the Northern state of Taraba, the Mambilla Plateau is Nigeria’s continuation of the Bamenda Highlands of Cameroon. With a peak of 5,249 ft above sea level (Wikipedia), the plateau is Nigeria’s highest plateau. The plateau is home to the Gashaka Gumpti National Park as well as the Ngel Nguki Forest Reserve which protects some endangered animal species. The low lush grasses and the all-year-round cool weather makes the Mambilla Plateau a paradise on earth. The Mambilla Plateau is one of the beautiful places you can visit in Nigeria.
3. Obudu Mountain Resort: Located in Cross River State, the Obudu Mountain Resort is one of Nigeria’s most beautiful places. It boasts of a large expanse of land and the view of the landscape there is breathtaking. The mountain resort plays host to tourists from home and abroad to see its beauty. The main attraction of the Mountain Resort is its serenity. During the day, the beauty of fog covering the mountain tops is unmatched.
4. Ngwo Pine Forest: Have you found yourself in Enugu recently or you plan on visiting Enugu in the future? Then the Ngwo Pine Forest is a place you should visit in the state. When you visit the Ngwo Pine Forest, you’ll see an expansive stretch of land filled with pine trees, the Ngwo Cave and the Ngwo Waterfall. There is nothing much to see in the pine forest but the cave which also houses the waterfall is the main attraction. As you approach the cave and waterfall, the air begins to cool and you begin to feel an unexplainable sense of calm. Inside the cave, you would be greeted with unique markings and inscriptions on the wall.
5: Lekki Conservation Centre: The Lekki Conservation Centre is a 190-acre conservation area located in Lekki, Lagos State. It was built by Chevron for the Nigerian Conservation Foundation in 1990. When you visit the centre, you’d be thrilled, as the centre is home to various plants and animal species. Ever heard of the famous Lagos Canopy Walkway? You get to walk on it when you visit the Lekki Conservative Center. The green grass and the fresh air of this place hit differently when compared to Lagos State itself and this makes the Lekki Conservation Center a very good attraction to tourists.
