There are about 20(twenty) million light vehicle drivers currently operating in Africa’s transport sector. Of these 20(twenty) million, 95% of them currently work in the informal sector, that is, they do not work under any established platform.
The reality for most of these drivers is that they are not able to make a decent wage even while working for long stretches daily. They are usually forced to use depleting or subpar facilities and resources to serve their customer base.
This state of affairs often reveals itself in inefficient mobility workings and activities. Because drivers are not equipped with the proper tools they need to thrive, such as reliable and properly maintained vehicles, adequate training, financial services, and welfare, drivers cannot operate at peak levels, and the industry ultimately bears the brunt.

In building the African mobility ecosystem, to make it safe, affordable, accessible, and sustainable, MAX has recognized the need to fully equip drivers, up to international standards, for the overall good of African mobility.
MAX is one of the very first platforms that has chosen to primarily care for African drivers. This is typified by our initiatives and strategies which are all focused on making sure that our drivers set the bar for efficiency, professionalism, customer happiness, and safety.
In a sector where the average driver does not feel looked after, MAX offers a haven, a community, and essentially a family, where drivers can get access to finance, vehicle ownership, licenses, insurance packages, digital wallets, and e-Hailing services, in an inclusive framework designed with the driver’s health, welfare, and morale in mind.
Giving drivers access to electric vehicles has also been a significant point of action. For the average driver, purchasing petrol significantly impacts profit margins, making it a herculean task to make ends meet. Electric vehicles help drivers keep costs down, and in turn, create a win-win situation for the driver and the environment.
MAX is building the largest vehicle subscription and financial services platform for transport operators and drivers across Africa. And a few years in, it is obvious that placing a premium on our driver welfare has given us a solid competitive edge. Such that we can say that caring for drivers is indeed our bread and butter.
