Regardless of race, colour or political view, every individual has a personality trait. Whether they’re introverted, extroverted or they become ambiverts, every human must fall under a category. Of course, everyone holds onto their category well and seem to find it strange for other people to be on the other side of the personality traits chart. Every personality trait is great and each has its pros and cons.

There are three general types of personalities — the introverts, the extroverts and the ambiverts. In this article, we would be going through each personality trait while shedding light to each of their pros and cons.

Introverts are mostly known for the reserved nature. You would seldom find an introvert in a club or a musical concert. An introvert is someone who is generally very comfortable with their own company. Introverts love to be alone and find it very uncomfortable if they have to share their space with certain people. You would mostly find them with their heads buried in books or their phones. While a lot of people mistake their calmness and reservedness and begin shy. They just prefer to be behind the scene.

While extroverts might not fancy the lifestyle of introverts, one pro about introverts is that they’re very analytical. Many introverts would rather listen than talk hence they process things internally rather than verbally. When you see an introvert next time, know that there’s a lot of stuff going on in their heads. Introverts are also very good at protecting their information and data. Their private lives are always under wraps and privacy thieves would do a very good job before cracking an introvert.

It might be cool to be an introvert however, there are some cons about introverts that needs to be mentioned too. Socialising is a big challenge for introverts. They find it very difficult to express themselves perfectly and as a result, people sometimes misunderstand them. Because of people’s inability to read them perfectly, many introverts tend to hold themselves back and constrict themselves from interacting with others.

Extroverts, on the other hand, are the life of the party. They are the real OGs. Extroverts, unlike introverts, are very open and expressive. You can liken them to the direct opposites of introverts and they are indeed the direct opposites of introverts. They like to have fun and they have a huge desire to have their adrenaline pumping hard. They’re the loudest cheerers in a football stadium, you are more likely to get depressed with their fashion style because they’re that cool.

Being that cool comes with a lot of pros. One of them is their ability to express themselves. These people are loud and you know they wouldn’t take an L so easily. It’s easier for extroverts to achieve their goals because their outgoing nature allows networks. Extroverts also find it easier to speak in public because courage and boldness are the least of their problems. Did I forget to mention extroverts are considered more attractive?

We should note however that being an extrovert has it’s cons as well.

Because of extroverts’ outgoing personality, they might be considered too forward by others. Besides, unlike introverts, extroverts are not as analytical and they can sometimes make hasty judgements and be rash with their decisions. Extroverts are social and all fun but sometimes they get into trouble that could have been avoided by just sitting at home.

Finally, we have the Ambiverts. These groups of people fall somewhere in between being introverted or extroverted. Ambiverts like meeting new people just like extroverts, however, they wouldn’t do it without the company of a familiar person. An ambivert is a rather passive person and would not join a conversation unless he is being addressed or a topic he likes to come up. An ambivert also relates to both introverts and extroverts because he is just like a mix of the two.

He likes attention but he does not want to be the centre of attraction.

Since ambiverts fall in the middle, they share the pros of both extroverts and introverts. On the con aspect, there isn’t really to be talked about except the strangeness of referring to yourself as an ambivert. Many people are not as familiar with the term “ ambivert “ because it’s not as popularly discussed as its other personality traits.

So, tell us. Which category do you fall into?
