As MAX continues to build the largest vehicle subscription platform for low to zero-emission vehicles in Africa, the hope and focus is to make a significant impact across the world. This is why it is always welcome when its efforts are recognized on global platforms.

In a recent MIT publication, named “103 Ways MIT is Making a Better World,” MAX Co-founders Adetayo Bamiduro, MBA ’15, and Chinedu Azodoh, MFin ’15, were lauded for their efforts in transforming mobility and entrepreneurship in Africa.

“The co-founders advocate for small business growth and a more welcoming economy for innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa”

Over the course of MAX’ 5+ plus years of existence, MAX has emerged as the leading mobility platform in Africa, facilitating efficient travel as well as providing health care, insurance and OEM services, and creating the largest optimized driver care platform in Africa. MAX has also gone on to develop and manufacture the most technologically advanced two-wheeled (MAX E M3) and three-wheeled (MAX T1) passenger carriers in Africa.

MAX’s Impact is now felt in rural and urban areas across West Africa, including the Gbamu Gbamu community of Ogun State in South Western Nigeria. Business owners such as farmers are now able to run operations more efficiently using MAX electric bikes, as well as save funds otherwise spent on fossil fuels.

MAX is pioneering the electric mobility space in Africa, encouraging individuals as well as businesses to get on board with reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

“MIT Sloan helped me realize I could contribute significantly to the world through leadership.” MAX CEO, Adetayo Bamiduro.

Great leadership and constant innovation have had to prevail for MAX to continue to make an impact, as the platform has had to survive and scale through adversity. At some point in the life cycle of MAX, two-wheeler travel operations were banned in Lagos State, where MAX operations were initially launched. MAX has since pivoted to focus on getting Africa to Net Zero Transport Emissions As well as growing its driver platform, which has now scaled from 200 to over 60,000 prospective drivers looking for vehicle subscriptions and other mobility services on its platform within the last two years.

MAX is also furthering digital and financial inclusion within its Champion (driver) community. Through innovation and strategies to improve driver productivity, MAX; now the number one mobility player in emerging markets- has set up its systems to receive 100% of remittance payments from drivers digitally.

All Champion (driver) remittances are now done digitally. And in the near future, the digital platform will enable the Champions to send or receive money, and ultimately conduct all of their banking activities on it

L. Rafael Reif, President of MIT has mentioned that “MIT’s community is defined by its values: Excellence. Meritocracy. Boldness. Humility. Curiosity. A passion for difficult problems. And a strong desire to do good for society”.

These values have guided MAX’s Founders, inspiring them into creating solutions that impact the lives of people every day, as MAX continues building Africa’s largest integrated, affordable, and collateral-free car subscription platform for low- and zero-emission automobiles.

Drivers can opt for credit and OEM services as part of the subscription offering. MAX has also created a unique credit engine that leverages alternative data to give previously unbanked drivers credit scores and subscription access. The hope for the future is to help even more drivers grow into high performing entrepreneurs, boosting Africa’s transport circuit in the process.
