Elon Musk is an avid reader. If you didn’t, now you know. Billionaire businessman Elon Musk has never been shy about sharing books he thinks are good reads and we’re grateful for it. Musk started to share his recommendations via his Twitter account many years ago. Since then he has recommended over 60 books for interested parties to pick up.
We’ve gone through the list a fair bit and right now we have 5 Favourites we wanted to let you in on.

Screw Business As Usual; Turning Capitalism Into a Force For Good. By Richard Branson
In his book, Business icon, Richard Branson posits the argument that business as usual isn’t working anymore. He mentioned the fact that businesses or ‘business as usual is harming the planet by polluting the air, sea, and land. He says that business can be used for good and more business people should begin to think in this line.
The Lord of The Rings: by J.R.R. Tolkien
The book that started it all. The Lords of The Rings book set (trilogy) introduced the world to what is now the high fantasy genre. You may know the stories from the big screen, which grossed almost $3 billion in total. However, if you haven’t read the book yet or indeed haven’t seen the movies, you’re in for a treat. The Lord of The Rings is still a good read today.
The book transports you to the Third-age of Middle Earth. Frodo Baggins and his team of hobbits & men must travel with a magic ring to destroy it in the volcanic fires of the Crack of Doom. Because they have learned that it has the power to control earth and corrupt whoever wears it.
Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future By Peter Thiel
This is the second time Zero to One is making it into our reading list. It must be good right? It is. Zero to One challenges entrepreneurs to take on the idea of creating something that has never existed before. The book explains that the only business ideas worth pursuing are the ones that offer something that can stand as an innovation in and of its own.
Steve Jobs: The Biography: By Walter Isaacson
If you are interested in the life of the business magnate, Steve Jobs, this is the book for you. The book is refreshing because Jobs chose not to interfere with the final output of the book, to keep it authentic. Walter Isaacson went deep into the life of Steve Jobs, interviewing him so many times over two years. He also interviewed co-workers, relatives, and many people close to him. Definitely a good read.
Waiting For Godot: By Samuel Beckett
Waiting for Godot is a tragicomedy that has been described as an innovation in theatre. Also a refreshing read. It was also performed by Sir Murray McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart, you may remember them from the X-Men movies.
The play gives us a view into the conversations of Vladimir and Estragon, two men waiting for the arrival of another unknown man named Godot. Both men seem to have no purpose in life and they wait for Godot because he is supposed to offer some direction. Over the course of them waiting, they begin to find some kind of purpose.
